Would you like to come home to an uncluttered living and family room? Would you like to remove every last bit of the clutter from your study or bedroom? Well, you can, if you buy and use wicker baskets. There is a wicker basket that can fit in with just about any sort of decor. In a sleeping quarters that contains a bed with a teak headboard, you might want to use a chestnut or natural colored basket. In a room with a Mayfair Steamer chest and drawers, you might prefer a darker, chestnut colored basket.

Sometimes the skilled hands that have worked on a wicker storage container have woven togther two different fibers. They might have produced an item with a multi-weave pattern on the rim, or on the sides. They might have used the tone in one fiber to create a linear design.

A wicker basket can have a rectangular shape, a circular shape or the shape of an oval. It can be a long woven container with two metal handles or an oval, wicker container with two triple loop handles. Stores generally sell gourmet baskets in sets. All items in the set are shaped like the woven, egg-filled containers that children hunt for on Easter Sunday.

While such egg filled containers lack any sort of cover, there are plenty of wicker baskets that do have a cover. The editors of the Crate and Barrel "Best Buys" catalogue have suggested using Sedona totes in the lavatory. They have pictured one of those rattan totes with a lid that is slightly raised. That raised lid reveals the contents of the tote--three rolls of toilet paper.

Rattan and seagrass have begun to replace wicker as a material that is favored by basket weavers. A rattan hamper can help to hide a pile of dirty clothes. Woven rattan can be used as a tissue box cover or as a wastebasket. If a lavatory has such accessories, the homeowner might want to surround the room's mirror with a rattan border.

Wicker can be used to create lighweight storage bins in the home. Some bedframes have been designed to hold such wicker bins. A sleeping quarters with a Stratton Bed can have the spaces underneath the mattress filled with baskets, rather than drawers.  A Stratton bed is designed to house properly sized containers, within its wooden frame.

Any type of storage basket helps to create space in a confined area. Wicker and rattan containers do "double duty." They not only hide all manner of objects, they also add a touch of beauty to the room. By using containers of varied sizes, a single room can be supplied with an entire stack of wicker or rattan baskets.

Finally, Wicker can disguise unsightly objects, like a pair of dirty boots, which someone has worn inside and has chosen to place in an entryway. No one notices or cares about the dirt on the boots. They are too busy admiring the simple yet elegant pattern of the weave. Give a Wicker basket a try today and unclutter your life tomorrow.
